Ghana
Ghana’s Coat of Arms, designed by Amon
Kotei, symbolizes the nation’s governance, resources, and independence. The
quartered shield represents local authority (ceremonial sword and linguist
staff), national government (Osu Castle), agriculture (cocoa tree), and mineral
wealth (gold mine), with a central gold lion signifying Ghana’s link to the
Commonwealth. Above the shield is the Black Star of Africa, representing
African freedom, while two golden eagles as supporters denote strength and
vigilance. The motto “FREEDOM AND JUSTICE” affirms Ghana’s national
ideals.
