Kenya
The coat of arms of Kenya depicts two lions holding spears and a traditional shield, symbolizing protection, unity, and defence of freedom. The shield bears the national colours: black for the people, red for the struggle for freedom, green for agriculture and natural resources, and white for unity and peace. At its centre is a rooster holding an axe, representing authority, hard work, progress, and the dawn of independence, as well as the symbol of the Kenya African National Union. The emblem stands on Mount Kenya above images of key agricultural products, highlighting the nation’s resources. Below, a scroll bears the word Harambee, meaning “pulling together,” expressing Kenya’s spirit of communal effort and cooperation.
