 Summer Olympics 2012

Tennis

At the London 2012 Olympic tennis events, Serena Williams dominated the women’s singles final by defeating Maria Sharapova while conceding just one game, completing her Career Singles Golden Slam and becoming the first player to achieve a Career Golden Slam in both singles and doubles. Partnering with her sister Venus Williams, she also defended the women’s doubles title, making the Williams sisters the first four-time Olympic gold medalists in tennis history.

In the men’s singles final, Andy Murray defeated Roger Federer in straight sets to claim gold, avenging his recent Wimbledon loss and becoming the first British man to win Olympic singles gold since 1908. The Bryan brothers won men’s doubles gold, completing their Career Golden Slam, while Victoria Azarenka and Max Mirnyi secured the mixed doubles title for Belarus.
