Orchid
Orchidaceae, the orchid family, is one of the two largest families of flowering plants (along with Asteraceae), with about 22,000–26,000 species in roughly 880 genera worldwide. Orchids are known for their colorful, often fragrant flowers and make up 6–11% of all seed plants.
The largest genera include Bulbophyllum, Epidendrum, Dendrobium, and Pleurothallis. The family also includes Vanilla and popular cultivated orchids such as Phalaenopsis and Cattleya. Over 100,000 hybrids and cultivars have been developed since the 19th century.
