Nutmeg

Nutmeg is a spice obtained from the evergreen tree Myristica fragrans, native to the Banda Islands of Indonesia. The seed of the fruit is nutmeg, while mace is the dried reddish covering (aril) of the seed, making the fruit the source of two different spices.

Nutmeg trees begin producing after 7–9 years and reach full production in about 20 years. Nutmeg is commonly used in powdered form, and the tree also yields products such as essential oils, oleoresins, and nutmeg butter.
