Marten

Martens are slender, agile mammals in the genus Martes of the Mustelidae family, found in northern forests across the northern hemisphere. They have bushy tails, large paws, and partially retractable claws. Their fur varies in color and is often prized by trappers. Martens are omnivorous, feeding on small animals, birds, fish, insects, and fruits. Solitary by nature, they only meet to breed, with litters of blind, hairless kits born in early spring. These animals are known to damage vehicles by gnawing on soft materials, leading to significant economic losses, especially in Central Europe.
