Ecuador

The coat of arms of Ecuador features Mount Chimborazo and the Guayas River, symbolizing the Sierra and Costa regions, with the steamship Guayas—the first river steamer built on South America’s west coast—bearing a caduceus to represent trade. Above the shield, a golden sun with the zodiac signs Aries through Cancer marks the months of the March Revolution of 1845. A condor crowns the arms as a symbol of national strength, while Ecuadorian flags flank the shield; laurel and palm branches signify victory and martyrdom, and the fasces below represent republican dignity.
