Kiribati

The coat of arms of Kiribati, also known as the National Emblem, features a golden frigatebird flying over a rising sun on a red field above blue and white waves symbolizing the Pacific Ocean. The three pairs of stripes represent the nation’s three island groups—Gilbert, Phoenix, and Line Islands—while the sun’s 17 rays stand for the 16 Gilbert Islands and Banaba. Beneath the shield is the Gilbertese motto Te Mauri te Raoi ao te Tabomoa, meaning “Health, Peace, and Prosperity.” The official design and specifications of the emblem are defined in the Constitution of the Republic of Kiribati.
