The equestrian events of the 2012 Summer Olympics were
held at Greenwich Park in London from 28 July to 9 August, featuring dressage,
eventing, and show jumping with individual and team medals in each discipline.
Great Britain achieved historic success, winning five medals—including two
golds—and topped the equestrian medal table for the first time since 1948.
Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro led the host nation’s triumph in dressage,
earning gold in both the team and individual freestyle events. In eventing,
Germany’s Michael Jung secured individual and team gold, completing an
unprecedented sweep of Olympic, world, and European titles. Show jumping saw
Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat claim individual gold, while the Netherlands won
team gold and Great Britain earned team bronze. All competitions took place in
the iconic setting of Greenwich Park, drawing significant international
attention and royal patronage.
