Summer Olympics 2012
Shooting
Shooting at the 2012 London Olympics was held from 28
July to 6 August at the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, featuring 15
events and 390 athletes, with the same program as in 2008. Although originally
planned for the National Shooting Centre at Bisley, the venue was changed due
to concerns over its distance from London. Special permission from the UK
government was required to allow pistol events, as such firearms were otherwise
prohibited under UK law following the Dunblane massacre.
