Olive

Olea europaea is a small tree from the family Oleaceae, widely found in the Mediterranean region, parts of Africa, and Asia. Its fruit, the olive, is agriculturally important as the main source of olive oil. The tree is widely cultivated in many countries, including Italy, Greece, and France. The word “olive” comes from the Latin oliva and the Greek elaia, both referring to the olive tree and its oil.
