Tilia (commonly called linden, lime tree in the UK, or basswood) is a genus of about 30 species of large deciduous trees native to the temperate Northern Hemisphere, with greatest diversity in Asia.

They typically grow 20–40 m tall, have heart-shaped leaves, and insect-pollinated hermaphroditic flowers. Many species hybridize easily.

Originally placed in the family Tiliaceae under the Cronquist system, Tilia is now classified in the family Malvaceae according to modern genetic research by the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group.
