Italian Naval Academy
The Italian Naval Academy (Accademia Navale) in Livorno was inaugurated on 6 November 1881 by Admiral Benedetto Brin, merging naval schools from Genoa and Naples. Designed by Luigi Pestalozza, it trains Italian Navy officers. Among its early cadets was Manlio Garibaldi, son of Giuseppe Garibaldi. During World War II, bombing forced its relocation to Venice and Brindisi, before it returned to Livorno and underwent major post-war reconstruction, including the Palazzo Studi added in 1966.
